I’m writing to you with a little bit of shame weighing on my shoulders. It’s been over a month since I’ve written my last blog post, and I’m a bit disappointed in myself. I typically pride myself on never missing a week and making sure that I’m always prepared, but I’m not going to lie- I needed the break. Life got hectic, very hectic. Not just for a little bit, but honestly probably since about two years ago. Between upsets in my personal life, health, work life, etc. I was beginning to slowly lose my mind. Instead of confronting my problems head-on, I kept hiding behind the everything’s alright mindset. I continued cranking out blog posts even when I felt as bland as a ham and cheese sandwich. Now that a lot of my issues have either resided or solved themselves, I’m finding myself in this mental rut. Not just regarding the blog, but on EVERYTHING. What am I doing with my life? Am I where I need to be right now? How come some things have changed drastically, while some things never change? A tornado of doubts and worries storm up in my mind resulting in a physical, zombie-like numbness. After talking to many of my mid-20s counterparts, this turns out to be so common that it’s scary. Most change doesn’t happen overnight, so what can we do in the meantime to get ourselves back on the yellow-brick road to optimism, creativity, and excitement? I’ve been seriously thinking about this a lot lately, and these categories are where I think the answer(s) lie. Continue reading
I don’t know about you, but I am soooo glad that 2017 is almost over! Now I know that the concept of change coming immediately after January 1st is completely mental, but many of us decide we’re ready for those necessary life changes once we wake up to a brand new year. Now with great change comes great responsibility. With that being said, it takes hard work, dedication, and motivation to achieve your goals. Can you lose 50 pounds, land your dream job, and find your future spouse in 2018? Of course you can! Is it highly likely? Probably not, but that’s because most of us are lazy and hate the concept of major change. Well, here are my suggestions on how to kick butt this year and make 2017 wish it never messed with you in the first place!
Sometimes in life we get a little bit too comfortable with our surroundings. Being comfortable is good since it reflects a sense of stability and reliability, but sometimes it can hold us back from accomplishing so much more and ultimately moving forward. I tend to get myself in situations where I’m so comfortable that I start to get uncomfortable, if that even makes any sense. I am a creature of habit, but I still like some spontaneity in my life. Here is what has helped me in the past when it comes to mixing it up in a healthy way! Continue reading
I see the same theme in both the young and old lately- the notion that we can’t always get what we want out of life and we just need to roll with the punches. Even though I agree with this to some degree, it feels like we’re just inspiring an entire generation to give up on the things they’ve been dreaming about since they were little kids. Whether it’s a career, a material possession, or finding that special someone, we’ve all become somewhat jaded by the mass amount of horrible circumstances that have plagued others. Even though I’ve had a fair share of things in my life go completely wrong lately, there are things in my life I accomplished by believing they were possible from the get-go. Of course it takes a pinch of motivation and ambition as well for these things to happen, but it all starts with your mentality. Below I break down where you can start with attaining your goals.
