Breaking Down The Difference Between Earned and Paid Advertising

I can’t believe another week has gone by so quickly! If you read last week’s blog post, it was about finding motivation and pushing through to achieve your end goals. This week I decided to bring it back around digital marketing for all of you small business owners and entrepreneurs out there! Whether you’re starting a new business or trying to become a new digital nomad, you’ll need to get down the basics of digital marketing (or at least until you can hire someone with the right expertise). In today’s digital landscape, there are primarily two different kinds of advertising to gain website traffic, brand awareness, and conversions. They are known as paid and unpaid (or earned). Now many of you might think, “Why would I pay for advertising if I can achieve the same results with unpaid?” Well, honestly it’s just not that simple. Facebook has become a popular channel for businesses to widely advertise to a target demographic at an affordable price! I only started playing with Facebook advertising around June and have learned so much already! If you do your research, you can find many articles and blogs about good rules of thumb when planning a campaign and budget. I read articles from Hub Spot, Social Media Examiner, and many other notable marketing publications that helped me get my foot in the door. Honestly the rest is purely trial and error. Each business has a different audience and different goals. That being said, here is what I’ve discovered so far! Continue reading
