Some people are obsessed with the Christmas season just as much as others are obsessed with Disneyland. I honestly get annoyed when I see fake red velvet and pine trees being set up in malls right when Halloween ends, but many live for this time of the year. Even though hearing pop stars sing Jingle Bells in 20 different renditions can get irritating every winter season, I do enjoy certain festivities of this time of the year. Here are a few joys of the holiday season that I’d like to share with you.
The Eggnog Frappuccino
Forget Peppermint Mochas and Pumpkin Spice Lattes. At Starbucks, it’s all about the Eggnog Frappuccino! Most people do not know that this wonderful drink exists, but I promise you it’s pure magic. Something about the taste of ice-cold eggnog with coffee and whipped cream is one of the best things you’ll ever taste. I look forward to this drink every year and I’m almost appalled at how it’s overlooked by fellow coffee addicts.
I know many of you are wondering why the heck I’m talking about Sears, but it’s one of the best places to do your Christmas shopping at. I’ve found great deals on slippers, pajama sets, tools, and other items that make great gifts for the people that you’re just not quite sure what to buy for. Sears has also partnered with notable brands such as Land’s End. Now that many of the malls in my area are putting in expensive department stores, it’s nice to have an affordable and versatile store such as Sears.
I love World Market all year long, but they have unique holiday items that are worth checking out this time of the year. Whether its gift baskets, tree ornaments, cards, or seasonal hot cocoa mix, they have unique products that will immediately put you in the holiday spirit. Also, you need to sign up for their free rewards program! There’s always a coupon of some sort available, and many times their wine collection goes on sale.
Religious Christmas Hymns
Everyone knows Santa Baby, but do they know Away in a Manger? You’d be surprised how many people don’t. I grew up going to Lutheran schools where we had to participate in formal holiday pageants and sing traditional Christmas carols. Many of these songs were truly beautiful and really helped everyone get in a giving and thankful mood.
The Christmas Dinner
I absolutely love Thanksgiving- especially the yummy side dishes. I like turkey too, but it’s probably my least favorite part of the meal. What I love about Christmas dinner, is that many of those awesome side dishes make a comeback, but now you can eat prime rib and drink sweet alcoholic drinks instead. Basically, you get to choose what you want to eat and drink without it looking weird. Also Christmas dinner can be peaceful. The rush of holiday shopping is over, and the idea of paying off the resulting bills hasn’t quite sunk in yet. It’s a beautiful time to eat, drink, and be merry!
I hope you have a wonderful holiday season full of joy, peace, and love!
